CITY AND GUILDS LEVEL 3 DOG GROOMING COURSE

From November 2017 to June 2018 I attended Ultimutt Dog Grooming Academy in Smithdown Road, Wavertree to undertake my City and Guilds Level 3 dog grooming course.  The course was a mixture of theory and practical sessions.  As part of the theory side I had to submit five assignments, complete a written assignment under test conditions and pass two multiple choice online tests which I scored 86% and 80%.  For the practical element I had to pass a timed groom on a woolly coated dog, a silky coat and a hand strip along with several foot shapes.  I enjoyed the course and learnt lots of tips to improve the standard of my grooms especially relating to scissoring techniques and positioning the dog.

DOG GROOMING COURSE AT REASEHEATH COLLEGE

At the end of 2015 I attended a 12 week Level 3 OCN dog grooming course at Reaseheath College.  I enjoyed the course and learnt some new bathing, drying, brushing out and clipping techniques.  I also had the chance to try out some new equipment including a coat king and stand dryer.

Here are photos of three of the dogs I clipped while on my course:

SPONSORED CHARITY RIDE

On Sunday 9th August 2015 I took part in the Mark Cavendish Rise Above Sportive which started in Chester headed out into the hills of North Wales and returned back into Chester.  I cycled the short route which was 50 mile / 80 km, in aid of Manchester and Cheshire Dogs Home.  I raised £250 and handed over the cheque to the Dogs Home on Friday 21st August.  It was a very challenging and hilly ride but the highlights were the beautiful scenery, the fast descents and my hero Mark Cavendish saying hello as he sped past me as I cycled into Handbridge.
